Weights are calculated from nominal dimensions at 7.85 g/cm³ and ignore corner and root radii. Producer tables and actual weights differ slightly because of radii and rolling tolerances.

What to specify for HR sheets
Sheet requirements are quoted fastest when the enquiry states:
- Grade and standard — for example IS 2062 E250BR, or IS 1079 if the part is formed
- Thickness in mm
- Width and length — standard commercial sizes or cut-to-size
- Surface — as-rolled (black) or pickled & oiled
- Edge — mill edge or trimmed edge, if it matters for your process
- Quantity in MT or number of sheets
- Producer preference, if your customer or consultant has specified one
- Delivery location within Delhi NCR

As-rolled or pickled & oiled?
As-rolled HR sheet carries mill scale. That is acceptable for most structural and fabrication work that will be shot-blasted or painted after fabrication. For powder-coated panels, pressed parts and components where scale causes problems in forming, welding or painting, HR pickled & oiled (HRPO) sheet is the usual specification. State which one you need; the two are priced differently.
Sheet from coil vs plate
At lighter and medium thicknesses, sheets are cut to length from HR coil. As thickness increases, buyers move from sheet to HR plates, and the choice between coil-cut plate and plate-mill plate becomes a specification question. If your requirement sits at that boundary, state the thickness and the application and we will quote the appropriate route.
Grades & standards
Standard numbers define the product and grade; they do not by themselves certify a supply. State the edition and certificate requirement on your purchase order.

FAQs
HR Sheets — common questions
What is the difference between E250A and E250BR?
Both are IS 2062 grades with 250 MPa minimum yield strength. E250BR is Charpy impact tested at room temperature; E250A has no impact test requirement. Specify BR where the drawing or client specification asks for impact-tested steel.
What is the difference between HR sheet and HRMS sheet?
They refer to the same product. HRMS stands for hot rolled mild steel; "HR sheet" and "MS sheet" are the shorter trade terms. For a purchase order, state the grade and standard rather than the trade term.
Can I order HR sheets in a specific size?
Yes. Share thickness, width, length and quantity. Where the size is not a standard cut length, it can be quoted as cut-to-size, subject to thickness and quantity.
Can you supply HR sheets with a mill test certificate?
Mill test certificates can be provided where available from the source. State the requirement in the enquiry so that the material is sourced with the correct documentation.
Which grade should I specify for general fabrication?
IS 2062 E250 is the usual structural reference. Add the quality suffix (A or BR) required by your drawing. If the part is pressed or formed, send the component description so the grade can be confirmed.
