The same hot rolled steel is bought in three commercially different forms, and each is priced, processed and dispatched differently:
- HR Sheets — cut-to-length from coil, for fabricators and manufacturers who want ready-to-use sheet sizes.
- HR Coils — for processors and high-volume users who slit, cut-to-length or feed coil directly into production.
- HR Plates — heavier thicknesses for structural members, base plates, machinery, equipment and pressure parts.
Choose the form by how the material will be consumed in your plant or on site. If you are unsure, state the finished part or the drawing reference and we will advise on the practical form to buy.
Grades that cover most HR procurement
Most hot rolled requirements fall into one of three specification families: IS 2062 structural grades (E250, E350 and higher), IS 1079 forming / commercial grades, and boiler / pressure-vessel plate (IS 2002 and equivalents).
