Weights are calculated from nominal dimensions at 7.85 g/cm³ and ignore corner and root radii. Producer tables and actual weights differ slightly because of radii and rolling tolerances.

How RHS is written
RHS is written as depth × width × wall thickness in mm. Indian producers roll some sizes that are specific to the Indian market — for example 96 × 48 and 122 × 61 — alongside metric sizes such as 60 × 40 or 100 × 50. Use the exact size from your drawing; near sizes are not always interchangeable in connections.

RHS — common questions
What is a patra pipe?
A pipe or hollow section rolled from secondary or scrap-derived strip, usually without ISI certification. It is cheaper but less consistent in wall thickness and strength, and suits only non-critical work. For pressure, fire-fighting, scaffolding or structural use, specify ISI-marked pipe.
Is RHS the same as a rectangular pipe?
Yes. "Rectangular pipe" is the common trade term for rectangular hollow sections.
Why are some RHS sizes like 96 × 48?
Some Indian producers roll sizes derived from traditional imperial dimensions. They are standard sizes in the Indian market.
