Round Pipes & Tubes
Round structural tubes and MS pipes. MRP Enterprises supplies round steel tubes — structural tubes (circular hollow sections) and MS round pipes — for trusses, scaffolding, frames, railings, furniture and general fabrication. Tubes are quoted against outside diameter or nominal bore, wall thickness or class, grade, finish, length and producer.

Plain-end black pipe weights calculated from IS 1239 outside diameter and wall thickness. Galvanized pipe weighs slightly more; screwed & socketed ends change weight per length.

OD or nominal bore
Structural drawings usually give round tubes as OD × wall thickness (for example 48.3 × 3.2). Pipe schedules give nominal bore and class (for example 40 NB medium). Both can refer to the same outside diameter — 40 NB has a 48.3 mm OD — but the wall differs by class. Quote from the drawing's own designation. See the NB to OD chart.

FAQs
Round Pipes & Tubes — common questions
What is a patra pipe?
A pipe or hollow section rolled from secondary or scrap-derived strip, usually without ISI certification. It is cheaper but less consistent in wall thickness and strength, and suits only non-critical work. For pressure, fire-fighting, scaffolding or structural use, specify ISI-marked pipe.
What is CHS?
Circular hollow section — a round structural tube specified by outside diameter and wall thickness.
Is a GI pipe the same as a pre-galvanized tube?
No. A GI pipe to IS 1239 is typically hot-dip galvanized after tube making. A pre-galvanized tube is formed from already-galvanized coil, so its coating is lighter and the weld seam is re-protected after welding. The two perform differently outdoors.
