Pressure-vessel and boiler plate is bought against a specific plate standard and grade with full traceability — heat number, mill test certificate and, frequently, third-party inspection.
What to specify
- Standard and grade (for example IS 2002 Grade 2, or the ASTM/ASME equivalent named in the specification)
- Plate thickness and plate size
- Heat-treatment condition if specified (for example normalised)
- Testing and inspection requirements
- MTC type required
