IS 14246 — Continuously pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) steel sheet and strip

The standard for pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGI) — colour-coated sheet on a zinc-coated substrate.

PPGI uses a galvanized (zinc) substrate instead of galvalume. It is specified for panels, enclosures, interior cladding and roofing where the project specification calls for a zinc-coated base.

Specify the zinc coating mass of the substrate, the paint system, colour, film thickness and whether thickness is quoted as TCT or BMT.
